Question: In HTML, how do you create a box with a scrollbar that can display text but can't be edited (is not editable)?

Something like <textarea ...>THE TEXT</textarea > is close to what I need, but the displayed text can be edited.

You must include the "readonly" attribute, like this:

<textarea NAME="mytarea" CLASS="mytareaclass& quot; readonly>THE TEXT</textarea>

This will create a textarea element in the page, and "THE TEXT" will be in the textarea but the user won't be able to edit it. The user *will* be able to scroll up and down or copy parts of the text to the clipboard.
